Living and building in harmony with nature.
Welcome to IMPALA!

Sustainable concepts for resource-efficient construction, research and energy autonomy.

European Union logo Funding information

Under the consulting guideline of the Free State of Thuringia, the company receives funding for consulting and process support that assists strategies for establishing, sustainably developing and safeguarding small and medium-sized enterprises. The funding is provided by the European Social Fund Plus and the Free State of Thuringia.

Development of a process for the systematic removal of inorganic and organic inputs from rivers and inland waters.
The project aims to design, engineer and manufacture a mobile, modular and self-sufficient system for processing extracted materials from rivers and inland waters.

Our focus

Natural

Natural

People are seeking a better balance. Vertical gardening, hydroponics and new urban concepts demonstrate that a change in thinking is underway.

People want to reconnect with nature, but technology itself is not harmful. We see it as our task to develop modern and efficient solutions.

Our particular focus is the development of environmentally friendly systems for food production.

Sustainable

Sustainable

Construction has a tradition spanning more than 10,000 years. Buildings were created for future generations or even for eternity. But can this development continue?

More frequent conversions, demolitions and new construction can have serious consequences for the environment. This is where we aim to make a difference.

Efficient

Efficient

Biomass plants can convert waste materials into energy and heat. This technology is increasingly attractive for smaller applications as well.

This is one building block on the path to autonomy, especially when combined with other renewable energy sources.

We build
differently!
Naturally.

TOP 1
Modular construction

For us, contemporary construction means that buildings should adapt to the changing needs of their users.

Our concepts achieve this through standardised components forming a modular system that can be completely dismantled and rebuilt.

TOP 2
Sustainable construction

Conventional building materials require large amounts of energy to manufacture and later involve costly recycling.

Wood, reed, natural fibres, bioplastics, innovative sandwich materials and products from future biofabrication can provide alternatives.

TOP 3
Energy-autonomous construction

An exterior wall should provide more than good thermal insulation. Walls can also play an active role in climate control.

Our work and research are dedicated to putting these goals into practice.

Allow us to introduce ourselves:
We are IMPALA.

Our story

For more than 20 years, we have worked in building design and industrial research in the field of renewable energy. Our work ranges from concepts and framework planning to complex project solutions across all service phases through to implementation.

We have extensive experience with participation processes and moderating different stakeholder groups.

Our vision

For us, the impala symbolises an animal capable of surviving in Africa with minimal resources and at temperatures of up to 50 °C. We found this so impressive that it became part of our corporate philosophy.

Resource efficiency and sustainability are at the heart of our work, together with energy generation from renewable sources and the use of modern, efficient technologies.

Nature still has much to teach us, particularly when it comes to addressing humanity’s current challenges through innovative solutions.

How we work

Topic-specific cooperation with relevant partners is an integral part of how we work. We place great value on reliable and close collaboration with our clients.

Development

Project description:

Development of a biohydrogen and biomethane micro-fuelling station for upgrading existing biogas and wastewater treatment plants.

The study evaluated the technical feasibility of the planned fuelling station. Its results and recommendations were documented in a consultancy report. The project, funded by the Free State of Thuringia, was co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
